Bunbury Pioneer Cemetery Park (formerly Pioneer Park)

The redevelopment of Bunbury Pioneer Cemetery Park, a former Cemetery 1842 – 1925, located within the Bunbury CBD, has been successfully transformed from an uninviting overgrown under-maintained wasteland into an attractive passive public open space and asset, providing interpretation of its former use and areas for relaxation and contemplation.
The design respects the natural site contours and unique positioning between Ocean, CBD and inlet, reinforcing its link both physically and historically to its former uses respecting the Nyungar cultural significance, providing sweeping views from various outlooks and subtle interpretive areas encouraging respect, understanding and learning through its landscape.
